After the Fuzztones broke up in 1992 there was no activity for five years. In fact, it wasn't until
1996 that Sundazed released "Flashbacks", which prompted the first Fuzztones reunions.

The first "reunion" was totally unplanned and impromptu. Rudi, Jordan, and Jason were performing at the Lava Lounge in Los Angeles as Link Protrudi & the Jaymen, when "Mad" Mike and John Carlucci made an unexpected appearance. During a break someone suggested they do a song...

...and for the first time in seven years, the "In Heat" line-up performed together, ripping through a ferocious version of "Cinderella," sounding as if they never stopped playing.

As impressed as they all were, hasty decisions were avoided like the plague. In fact, it took the
band several months to come to the conclusion, that perhaps they should play a real reunion show.

"18 ARMS TO HOLD YOU"

1998's Cavestomp found the Fuzztones on the same bill as Sky Saxon of
The Seeds(backed by the Mysterians), and one of Rudi's personal heroes
Mark Lindsay (Paul Revere & The Raiders). This was the first time Elan
Portnoy, Deb O'Nair, and Rudi Protrudi played together since 1986.
Original Fuzztones bassist, Randy Pratt, filled in for Michael Jay
who was and still is missing in action.
